Healthy Eating Tips for your Summer


Summer cookouts and parties mean potato chips, hot dogs, burgers, ribs, cake, ice cream and plenty of extra fat and calories. Turn up the fun and keep the pounds away and continue to eat healthy this summer.


Be More Active: Warmer weather will open many doors for fun and activities. The exercise with help you burn more calories, tone muscles and trim inches.

Eat Healthier: Make sure you add plenty of lettuce and tomato on your burgers and fill up on healthy salads. Watch the cheese and salad dressings because they will turn up the calories. Leaving behind unhealthy foods and adding newer healthier ones are a great idea. Try something different like grilled vegetables or a veggie burger on the grill.

Drink More Water: Water has no calories and your body needs more because of the summer heat. Soda and colas are not the best sources of fluid because they contain caffeine and sugar that will dehydrate you. Sugar-free, caffeine-free drinks are good choices.


Melon Berry Salad

Enjoy with a scoop of yogurt!

- ½ Cantaloupes

- ½ Pint fresh raspberries

- ½ Pint fresh blueberries

- 1 Tablespoon honey (optional)

- ¼ Cup orange juice

- Cut cantaloupe into chunks.

In a bowl combine chunks of melon with raspberries and blueberries. Then, combine orange juice and honey and drizzle over fruit. Chill, serve, and enjoy! Happy 4th!
